Obituary
ROCKY MOUNT – Atlas Ray Joyner, age 83, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024. Born in Nash County, NC on February 1, 1941, he was the son of the late Roy Lee Joyner and Pattie Winstead Joyner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Taylor Joyner; sister, Eloise Lucas; brothers, Gorham Lee Joyner and James Joyner; brother-in-law, Leslie Taylor; grandsons, Daniel Robert Atlas Joyner and Nicholas Austin Snow; and nephew, Ronnie Crocker.
Atlas proudly served his Country in the US Army. In his free time, he enjoyed going fishing, and had his favorite fishing spots. He also enjoyed watching Western Shows and Hallmark movies with his wife. Atlas also took care of his loving wife in her last days. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him, but his loving spirit will never be forgotten as he was everything to his family.
Atlas is survived by his children, Faye Snow (Joe), Kimberly Parks, Kelvin Joyner and Michael Joyner; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Ellen Crocker (Donnie); aunt, Donna Deans; nephew, Greg Joyner (Denise); niece, Sherry Winstead (Kim); sisters-in-law, Glenda Marlow, Ann Marlow, Ellen Davis, and Marsha Jones; and brothers-in-law, Linwood Taylor (Cornelia), and Russell Taylor (Lisa).
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 661 English Road Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Pastor Linwood Taylor officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. A visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM prior to the service in the parlor at Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
