CASTALIA – Omar "Brian" Lamm, Sr., age 73, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Born in Nash County, NC on April 22, 1951, he was the son of the late Onnie Dell Lamm and Margerine Deans Lamm. Blessed with natural musical talent, Brian played for the Rocky Mount Senior High School band, “The Essex”, where he was a Class of 1969 graduate which also happened to be the last class of the Blackbirds. Brian’s love for music brought opportunities throughout his life to perform for many weddings, grand openings, homecomings, church ministries, and other events. One special occasion he was quite fond of was performing with J.D. Joyner for a Bojangles grand opening in Greenville where they played “Mr. Bojangles”. Brian, along with other Lamm family members, owned and operated Central Building Supply in downtown Rocky Mount for over 50 years where he helped thousands of people over the years accomplish their dreams and achieve their goals. A devoted and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and good friend to many, Brian will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all those who knew him.
Brian is survived by his sons, Omar Brian Lamm Jr. and Andrew Porter Lamm (Brenda Clark Winstead); his son-in-law, Jason Coburn Bailey; his grandchildren, James Lamm, Kaitlyn Lamm, Julie-Anna Bailey (Chayton), Coburn Bailey, Sophia Lamm, Evie Lamm, Dylan Warner (Lauren), Trevor Gaskins, and Amber Baker (Phillip); his great grandchildren, Everly Baker and Laurel Warner; his sister, Susie Lamm Marshall (Lee); his brother, Dell Drew Lamm; his devoted former wife, Sandra Porter Lamm; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.
